Six areas of expertise · One workshop

From the circuit boardto the stage, a single expertise since 2017

Chronix brings together within one team what most events companies keep apart: electronic and software R&D, short production runs, artistic creation, production, stagecraft, and innovative experiences.

Deep expertise backed by proven skills; a multidisciplinary team of variable geometry, built around a core group and co-contracting partners who share our values and have worked alongside us for years.

Our 6 areas of activity

Six interlocking areas of expertise, six ways of working with us.

Although you may only need one or two of them, our areas of expertise are very often intertwined — and that is precisely what gives our projects and our teams their strength.

01
— Software R&D & electronic systems

Design office, electronics, mechanics and software

For our own needs as much as for our clients' (developing projects on behalf of a third party), every year we design projects combining electronic design, software, enclosure and mechanism design, sensor interfaces, controllers and human-machine interfaces — for the events industry, for sport and for industry alike. Theme parks, events agencies, audiovisual suppliers, industrial companies.

02
— SHORT PRODUCTION RUNS & MANUFACTURING

Short production runs and manufacturing in our workshops

From prototype to short production run: in-house digital Pick & Place for component placement, filament printing, stereolithography and laser cutting for mechanical parts. That autonomy lets us close an R&D cycle in a few weeks instead of several months — and keep confidential whatever needs to stay that way.

A flagship case: the on-board technology of the CrashKart karts, designed and built in our own workshop since 2021.

03
— FROM THE IDEA to its realisation

Multidisciplinary artistic design, a real asset for your projects

Backed by substantial technical research into how emotion is created, and by the founders' experience (> 15 years in the live-performance world), we are not equipment hire firms or riggers. We imagine projects together with our clients, and design exceptional work that stays with people and touches the hearts of audiences and visitors.

We run 3D simulations, meet in person, carry out trials, collaborate. Above all it is a human adventure: we work with voice-over artists, shape the script with our actors, and study the cues and the techniques to be used according to the artistic constraints, never the other way round.

We then quickly set it to music, lay down the voices and the technical effects, and match up the storyboards to give birth to coherent projects that are truly one of a kind.

04
— executive production

Coherent, competent production

A creation — even more so in live performance — also calls for production resources to bridge the technical side, the artistic side and the client. Our team, also of variable geometry so as to keep every project financially flexible, can be present from the very start of the project through to the end of the performance (project coordination, human, financial and technical resources, rights management, executive terms, but also looking after the cast and its needs, cueing, and stage management). Sound and light shows, live performance, corporate events, concerts

05
— Stagecraft

From sound and light to pyrotechnics, flame and water jets

Our team is qualified in pyrotechnics, on top of mastering the whole technical chain — audio, lighting, video projection, special effects (haze, smoke, snow, CO2, confetti, cold sparks), pyrotechnics, flames — and works closely with water-jet specialists. Since 2018 we have developed in-house solutions that are unique of their kind in order to integrate all of this into a coherent control chain, through software and electronics. All our pyrotechnic work is carried out by a licensed team of firing operators and with Omega Production, a company specialising in pyrotechnics.

06
— innovative experiences

Bikes, karts, hyper-interactive installations, signature scenography

A catalogue of participatory installations developed in-house: the connected bike (controlling light, water jets, video mapping), the connected night-time karting (in partnership with CrashKart), light tunnels, interactive Halloween and Christmas structures, and more.

Our signature: "hyper-interactivity" — the audience becomes an actor in the animation. That is what we call it internally, to make up for how loosely and commonly the word "interactivity" is used.
For: corporate evenings, theme parks, public events.

The Saint-Quentin workshop

Everything you need to go from ideato prototypein one and the same place, or very nearly.

In brief, here is the equipment in our workshop that lets us see our projects through

The Chronix workshop occupies the ground floor of 112 rue Denfert Rochereau, in Saint-Quentin (02). It is designed to make it easy to go from an idea to a working prototype almost without leaving the building:

  • Digital Pick & Place
  • 3D printers (multi-material and SLA)
  • PCB reflow oven
  • High-end oscilloscopes, laboratory power supplies, thermal camera
  • Sensor test benches
  • Substantial stock of materials: cable on drums, connectors, standard and flight-case hardware, screws, nuts and bolts, assorted materials)
  • Laser cutting, cutting tools
  • Welding station

That autonomy is our real differentiator. When a theme park asks us for an installation "that doesn't exist", we can put a working prototype in front of them within weeks, not in 6 months. When a client wants to change a detail 48 hours before the event, we can do it — they are our boards, our code, our design and our assembly.

And when a project falls outside the scope of our workshop (very large format, monumental scenography, national tour, specialities we have not brought in-house), we draw on a network of partners built up since 2017: ACT, Europe Évènements and Atlantid in particular (cutting/welding/structures/fire, water and laser expertise)

Why this combination is rare

Three things that mostof our peers do not do.

Designing and building our own equipment

Most events suppliers hire or buy standard equipment. Chronix designs its own circuit boards and produces them in short runs in-house. No dependency, no supplier lead times, and installations that exist nowhere else.

Writing the intention before programming the show

In most cases the script is imposed by an outside creative studio and the technical delivery is executed downstream. At Chronix, the storytelling happens in the same place as the electronic, software, sound, lighting and pyrotechnic design.

Working directly or as a co-contractor

We adapt to your line of work (company, local authority, agency, AV supplier). Directly for an end client, discreetly as a co-contractor for an agency — no unfair competition; as a matter of professional ethics we respect your processes, your teams and the way you handle confidentiality.

Do you have a challenge that calls for several disciplines?
